AUTOFRETTAGE: THE PRINCIPLES

Autofrettage is a hydraulic process that is intended to generate permanent compressive stress in the bore of gun barrels. This stress partly counterbalances the stress generated during firing, and significantly improves the fatigue strength of the barrels, by drastically reducing crack propagation.

THE MOST RELIABLE
AUTOFRETTAGE MACHINES ON THE MARKET

GUN BARRELS
100% OPERATIONAL

100% SAFE

Since autofrettage pressure is higher than firing pressure, this process guarantees barrels that are 100% operational in the theater of operations. The autofrettage process acts as a quality control test for the material used to manufacture the barrel.

NEED TO CONDUCT FATIGUE TESTING ON YOUR BARRELS?

GREATER PRECISION, FOR LONGER

Autofrettaged guns do not undergo permanent deformation shot after shot.
The chromium plating will be more effective and stay in place for longer.
